AWP ’26 Baltimore

Well my press was a no-show but I was adopted by the good folks at Queer Love Project. I had a book signing at their table (sold out my stock!)

The joint QLP/Open Secrets Magazine booth at AWP 2026 Baltimore.

and took the stage at the QLP Offsite at The Club Car, a queer bar with a fab crowd.

QLP Offsite: Jardana Peacock, Jerry Portwood, me, Megan Okonsky, Mike Narkunski, and Stephanie Sellars.

I gave them my sex worker origin story from AFTERLIFE OF A KEPT BOY:

After getting to it, I could understand his partner’s reluctance. It was a real chore—he was super hairy and had a tendency to tense up completely at the first hint of penetration, but I persevered, like a trailblazer through dense jungle, and got it done. HornyUWS was thrilled. I didn’t really know what the going rate was, so when he asked, “How much do I owe you?” I stammered. He emptied his wallet—just over two hundred dollars—and said, “Here, you deserve this, you’re better than those other guys…” For a half hour sexual encounter I might have had voluntarily had the winds been blowing differently, I had cash for the week. Andrés’ glib comment on the crosstown bus after our first date with the decorator—You just turned your first trick—echoed back at me. This time, instead of confusion, it landed with the thrill of new possibilities. I headed home with a stack of twenties and a business plan.”

Thanks to Jerry & Mike from QLP for giving me a home @ AWP!
